Teaching History in New Ways: Historical Thinking & Indigenous Knowledges Professional Development Day
Friday, November 13, 2026
8:30am – 5:00pm
Join us at the Canadian Museum of History for a free, full-day professional learning experience for K–12 teachers, co-sponsored by Thinking Historically for Canada’s Future and the Canadian Museum of History.”
In the morning, explore practical and engaging approaches to teaching historical thinking and discover how the Canadian Museum of History’s rich collections and resources can support inquiry-based history teaching and assessment across grade levels.
In the afternoon, participate in an Indigenous Knowledges Dialogue Session with Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Together, we will explore what teaching and learning history can look like through Indigenous Knowledge Systems, and consider both the possibilities and responsibilities of bringing different ways of knowing the past into our classrooms.
